Hot Stone Massage

Explore the deeply penetrating, soothing, relaxing and long lasting effects of a Hot Stone Massage. Melt clients’ tight muscles while saving your thumbs and fingers. Practice and receive a hot stone massage including stone and chakra layouts. Learn to work with equipment needed. Explore the many types of stones used and how to clean and care for them. Himalayan Salt stones will be introduced.  All benefits and contraindications are discussed. This class is primarily hands-on so dress in comfortable clothing. Bring sheets, towels, pillowcases, oil and an apron(optional). Stones and warmers will be provided for your use during class. If you have stones and/or warmer you are welcome to bring them for your own use.

Infant Massage

Learn the value of tender, nurturing touch techniques to massage medically stable newborns and infants. This introductory class will show you how to introduce Infant Massage to empower parents, family, and caregivers of newborns and infants. Research has shown parents can actively take part in the physical and emotional development of their child thorough nurturing massage. Students will practice specific stokes and sequence on a doll. Dress in comfortable clothing. Bring toddler size doll or your infant for the last 2 hours.

Pregnancy Massage

The expectant woman’s body is challenged and massage offers a much needed holistic approach to reducing the stress and aches associated with pregnancy. This class will train you to offer a thorough massage to a very deserving segment of the population during a normally progressing pregnancy. Benefits and contraindications for pregnancy massage are covered as well as labor points and endangerment areas. You will learn proper positioning, draping for the pregnant client.  We’ll practice nurturing techniques that decrease swelling and relieve common aches and pains associated with stages of pregnancy.  Side-lying positioning will be introduced which you will find a valuable tool for all your clients.  This class is part lecture and part hands-on so dress in comfortable clothing. Bring sheets, and body or 2 bed pillows.

Senior Massage

Today 1 in 8 Americans are over 65 with the 76 million Baby Boomers about to join the ranks. Senior massage as an industry is in its infancy. Learn about the physiology and the anatomy of the aging client. Students will practice working with varied positioning and specific massage techniques designed to comfort the elderly and relieve muscle tension. We’ll explore settings we find Seniors in and experience working over clothes.  Dress in comfortable clothing. Bring sheets and body or 2 bed pillows.

Solving Shoulder Problems

The shoulder joint is the most movable joint of the body but frequently injured. Tight shoulder muscles can cause countless dysfunctions in the shoulder, arm, wrist and hand. Get reacquainted with muscles that influence the shoulder movement, including the rotator cuff, upper arm and neck. See how to identify postural deviations and specific pain patterns.  Learn a variety of techniques; trigger point , muscle energy techniques and pin & stretch to release the muscles involved. Unlocking the Pelvic Puzzle

The pelvis is the “foundation” of the body. Minor muscle imbalances can stress the hip joint and over time lead to wear and tear, even degeneration of the joint. Learn to “deconstruct” the hip and get reacquainted with its many muscles and structures. See how to recognize postural deviations and recognize the pain patterns involved. Learn a variety of techniques: trigger point , muscle energy techniques and pin & stretch for unlocking the pelvic puzzle.. This is primarily a hands-on class, so dress in comfortable clothing. The Neck/Arm Connection

The most common client complaint is pain in neck, shoulder, or arm.   Muscle strain symptoms are often results of poor posture, sleeping position, or repetitive motion injuries.  The brachial plexus originates in the neck and innervates to the fingertips, with many opportunities for neural tension or restriction along the way.   This class will increase your knowledge of the complex anatomical structures of the neck, dermatomes and pain patterns.   The Student will learn trigger point, active with resist, myofascial release and pin & stretch, demonstrating safe techniques to improve neck pain & immobility, tennis & golfers elbow as well as carpal tunnel syndrome.   Dress comfortably, bring sheets, body pillow or 2 pillows . Chair Massage

Chair massage introduces massage to the masses.  Seated massage is quick, inexpensive, convenient and less intimidating compared to table massage.  Research has shown that chair massage can increase cognitive ability as well as reporting a significant decrease in tension and stress in the workplace.  Today massage therapists bring chair massage to every possible venue from airports to dentist offices.  It is as versatile as your imagination.  Chair massage is an invaluable marketing tool and can be an additional source of income.

In this class we’ll explore a variety of chair massage techniques and correct body mechanics to deliver a massage that is beneficial to the client while protecting your body.  Students learn a very thorough 15 minute sequence that will address areas of tension and loosen tight muscles in back, shoulder, neck and arms by using forearms, knuckles, heel of hand, and thumbs. We review the benefits of chair, prepare for a session, after session clean up; and client stretches.

Instructor Development Course: Teaching Adult Learners

A certificate will be presented in completion of the 30 hour course fulfilling a requirement in applying for a Massage Therapy Instructor (MTI) License in Texas.
